Ken White

Ken White, born in 1943, is a celebrated British artist whose career began in the industrial heart of Swindon. Initially working in the Great Western Railway’s carriage works, he transitioned to commercial illustration and gained prominence in the 1960’s.

White became famous for designing album covers, including those for Gilbert O’Sullivan, and collaborating with Richard Branson and Virgin Records. His artwork adorned the walls of Virgin offices, hotels, and even planes, including the iconic Scarlet Lady on Virgin jets. Known for large-scale murals, his works include notable commissions at Heathrow and Madame Tussauds.

White's figurative paintings, rooted in memories of his industrial childhood, convey a poignant view of the working-class struggles before the welfare state. His art, suffused with humour and nostalgia, offers a reflective lens on a rapidly changing world. Ken White’s work remains integral to the cultural and visual landscape of modern Britain.
